As you can imagine, this summer has been scorching and extremely intense here at the F.O.A.D. headquartes. From June to today, we have released 14 x LPs (not counting those with extra editions on MC or CD) and participated with our massive booth in various festivals, including the usual megablasts at Obscene Extreme and Party San Open Air! Despite the frenzy of having to divide ourselves between so many fronts and the hellish temperatures at our workplace, here we are, more or less at the end of the season, happy to announce that the death/thrash/black metal attack we had announced is ready! SOLEMN “Extinction Asaru” LP, THE HORDE OF TORMENT “Distorted recollections – The demo anthology” gatefold 2xLP, PROFANCER / PROFANATION split LP+CD, XASTHUR “The black mist of blood ritual – Unreleased session 1993” LP, and XASTHUR “Hidden lore + Unreleased session 1993” CD are all out now on F.O.A.D. Records, and all pre-orders have been shipped on time.  We still have a few copies of the splatter-marble-smoke vinyl variants, so hurry up and don’t miss out!

Thebundleincluding all diehard editions will be available for a while longer, at our discretion. We will soon begin announcing next month’s titles… it will be a little different from usual. The clues we can give you are: 5 releases, 1x HC thrash crossover (late 80s), and 4x pure 80s heavy metal made in Japan, with names that will pleasantly surprise you!  Stay tuned….

And now more details on August’s 5x sonic disasters:

SOLEMN “Extinction Asaru” LP (F.O.A.D. 380)
Complete discography of this doom-tinged old school Death Metal unit from New Jersey! Includes their demos 1993-1995 and 3 songs from pre-SOLEMN’s evil incarnation, called “IT”.
SOLEMN used to blend the dark sound of their area’s trademark death metal (think of INCANTATION) with doomish slowdowns and gorerific death/grind bursts. Their demos “Exiled” and “Asaru breathen” are true lost gems of cryptic, cavernous U.S. death metal in pure early 90’s tradition, that absolutely deserve to be rediscovered. Sourced from the band’s master tapes. LP with insert including scans of the original demos and a fanzine interview.

PROFANCER / PROFANATION split LP+CD  (F.O.A.D. 369)

PROFANCER:  official reissue of their 1990 demo “Rest without peace”. Formed in 1987, PROFANCER were inspired by Morbid Angel and classic Cogumelo bands offering the most raw and ferocious death thrashin’ madness imaginable… Their members went on to form the legendary XASTHUR!
PROFANATION: official reissue of their “In gloom” demo 1994. Black-tinged old school death metal, or as the band called it…. “Morbid Metal” – for this incredibly intense and brutal spawn of satanic darkness. Both demos were mastered from selected sources, the best in existence, provided by the bands.  Bonus CD compiling both demos and 3 bonus tracks by Profancer, that clearly show their musical transition with embryonic versions of Xasthur songs.. Includes a 16-page booklet and extra insert, filled with rare photos, interviews, scans of the original demos, and a lot more!

Another scorching summer under the radioactive sun of F.O.A.D. Records and increasingly ruthless and mindblowing releases. After a June entirely dedicated to 80’s American hardcore and an unforgettable July between the Obscene Extreme festival and ferocious aural assaults of noise/grore/grindcore such as Fear Of God, Regurgitate, early Disharmonic Orchestra and Kandarivas, we change c(o)urse again and return to more death/thrash/black metal oriented territories, considering that August brings us to the Party San Metal Open Air festival, and what better battlefield to premiere titles like these… So we have 3 releases from Singapore: a previously unreleased 1993 session by XASTHUR, recently unearthed from the band’s archives, which now sees the light of day on vinyl/LP with a well-deserved F.O.A.D. treatment, then another CD by XASTHUR featuring their entire discography; and, by popular demand, the definitive and official version of PROFANCER / PROFANATION split LP+CD after the terribly lame editions on Zzzooouuh that ruined years and years of research that led us to tracking down the best quality master and a bunch of graphic material for a good 18 pages between inserts and booklets, for this F.O.A.D. version that puts a tombstone on the mediocrity previously delivered by the very poor Argentine label.  If from Singapore we travel through the darkest and most evil depths of old school black/death/thrash metal, the other two releases this month move to the USA with a slightly different choice of sound: from New Jersey, the complete discography of SOLEMN, ominous early 90s death metal with a rotten and cryptic approach that inevitably brings to mind Incantation, and from Nevada, the legendary THE HORDE OF TORMENT with an ultra-complete discography, for the first time on vinyl… neck-fracturing thrash metal, fast, intense, and totally underrated for the potential and energy that this band had! So, to sum up and get to the point: SOLEMN “Extinction Asaru” LP, THE HORDE OF TORMENT “Distorted recollections – The demo anthology“ gatefold 2xLP, PROFANCER / PROFANATION split LP+CD, XASTHUR ”The black mist of blood ritual – Unreleased session 1993“ LP and XASTHUR ”Hidden lore + Unreleased session 1993” CD are all available for pre-order via www.scareystore.com!

As usual, we have prepared a limited bundle for those who want to grab the diehard versions of the 4 LPs in one go. It won’t last long, so act fast! And to conclude, our usual requests, which we will never tire of repeating: 1) If you are interested in the diehard colored vinyl versions, all limited to 100 copies, don’t sleep on it because they will sell out quickly. 2) It’s the middle of summer and we are alternating between hard work at our warehouse and open-air festivals thousands of Kms away from our headquarters, which means our staff is spread thin and very busy. Please, once an order is placed, it is final: don’t bombard us with confusing messages for additions, substitutions, changes, payments different from those originally requested, address changes, anxiety about tracking numbers, and so on. All of this causes stress and inevitably slows down our schedule, affecting both the speed with which we ship packages and prepare releases for the coming months. Thanks!

And now here are the detailed descriptions of the 5x atrocities we are proposing this time around:
