FOAD RECORDS TO RELEASE THE LEGENDARY MALEVOLENT CREATION DEMO 1987 ON VINYL/LP!
Even tough we did not announce this among the first releases of 2011, the next FOAD 018 release will be a spectacular vinyl pressing of MALEVOLENT CREATION 1987 Demo tape. This demo has remained unavailable to the larger metal crowds for years mostly because, in the band’s words, “The demo was never released however because we were never happy with the final mix. We actually mixed it a second time with Robbie Takac (The Goo Goo Dolls) at Trackmaster studios, but still didn’t get what we were looking for, so it has only ever been heard by close friends.”
This vinyl edition comes to testify how the original MALEVOLENT CREATION sound was, and what modern technology can do: Side A contains a definitive remix done by original line-up guitarist Jim Nickles in his New York City studio, while side B presents the demos in its original form, sound and fierce raw fury. This choice was made in order to preserve a cult classic, and notice how the scrupulous remastering work could enhance its qualities and bring them at level with today’s productions. Jim Nickles did such an awesome job it sounds like the restoration of a work of art!
This Demo shows quite an unknown side of MALEVOLENT CREATION‘s sound: it is a testimony of their hybrid origins, closer to a fastened Thrash sound coming from the ’80s way of classics like SLAYER and DARK ANGEL rather than the pure and crude death metal the band was known for in their later years, making it a total match with FOAD Records’ vision.
The album is already in the production stages, and street date and pre-order dates will be announced very soon. We just anticipate that there will be a special limited splatter edition!

We took the duty of following personally every aspect of the audio transfer, in order to ensure maximum quality and to guarantee audio perfection for such an important release… crucial to us, as a label, and to those people, like Alan and Brian of GLORIOUS TIMES, working to bring back to life and document those hidden, forgotten and rare jewels that helped shaping the roots of extreme metal back in the glory days of its inception!
