We’ve finally reached the end of what is, for us, the toughest and most demanding season of the year: the summer stretch from June through August. Over these 3 months we managed to unleash no less than 16 releases (!!) while working our asses off at festivals and gigs all over Europe and Italy. Keeping up with this pace has been absolutely brutal: endless travelling, barely any sleep, catching up with the mountain of mailorder work waiting for us back at the warehouse, and pushing through some seriously exhausting temperatures. But we made it, and now a slightly calmer period is finally on the horizon. And we got here just in time for the OUT NOW date we had announced for our Scandinavian Death Metal batch, which has received an amazing response so far. So, cutting straight to the point:MACRODEX “Reborn Through Hate – Complete Recordings 1988-1990” Gatefold 2xLP+CD, ADVERSARY “Succumb To Death Metal” LP+CD, CEREBRUM “Vestiges Of An Evoked Past (1993-1994)” Gatefold 2xLP and ABSURDUS “The Ending Path (1993-1996)” LPare ALLOUT NOWon F.O.A.D. Records!

A large part of the preorders has already been shipped and tracking numbers have been updated, while most of our distributors have copies on the way, so if you usually get your F.O.A.D. fix through them, you already know who our partners in crime are. A word of warning: the diehard splatter editions are getting dangerously close to selling out. The bundle including all 4 releases will remain available for just a few more days and will be taken down as soon as any one of the four is gone, so don’t sleep on it for too long. What should you expect from September? We’ll be sailing into completely different waters, shifting our focus to 4 milestones of ’80s and ’90s Italian Hardcore. Stay tuned, because trailers, previews and full details will start dropping very soon.

And now, here are the complete breakdowns of this month’s 4 eardrum-destroying assaults:

MACRODEX “Reborn though hate – Complete recordings 1988-1990” Gatefold 2xLP+CD (F.O.A.D. 434)

Macrodex combine ferocious songwriting with outstanding musicianship, topped off by Roger Petterson’s unmistakable snarling vocal delivery, perfectly matching the relentless aggression and intensity of the music. ADVERSARY – “Succumb To Death Metal” LP+CD(F.O.A.D. 435)

From the golden age of the Swedish Death Metal underground, emerging from Sandviken in the early ’90s, ADVERSARY released only three demos before disappearing into obscurity. In just a short span of time, they evolved from primitive beginnings into one of the most overlooked acts of the crushing Swedish Death Metal sound. Their final demo, “Remains Of An Art Forgotten”, was recorded at the legendary Sunlight Studio and features guest screams by Matti Kärki of DISMEMBER! Now F.O.A.D. Records resurrects their complete legacy… This LP+CD set includes:

  • “The Blood Of Those Who Failed” (Demo 1990)
  • “Beyond Death” (Demo 1991)”
  • “Remains Of An Art Forgotten” (Demo 1991)

BONUS CD: All 3 demos plus Live in Sandviken, Sweden 1991 (a previously unreleased raw, brutal sounding live recording).
Comes with a 12-page booklet featuring an introduction by Nicola Costantini, author of “Encyclopedia Of Svensk Döds Metall”, plus original fanzine reviews, tape scans and archival material.

CEREBRUM – “Vestiges Of An Evoked Past (1993-1994)” Gatefold 2xLP(F.O.A.D. 413)

A forgotten chapter of Finnish Death Metal history… finally restored! Spawned in Turku in 1992, CEREBRUM remain one of the most overlooked names of Finland’s early ’90s Death Metal scene. Arriving just as many of their contemporaries were beginning to fade away or change direction, the band left behind a small yet remarkable body of work that perfectly captured the transition from uncompromising Old School Death Metal into darker, more melodic and progressive territories. Drawing inspiration from Death, Morbid Angel, Entombed, Carcass, Obituary and Xysma, while later embracing the adventurous spirit of Edge Of Sanity, Phlebotomized, Amorphis and Sentenced, Cerebrum crafted a sound that deserves to be rediscovered.
This Double LP includes:

  • “Demo #1” (1993)
  • “Grief” (1994)
  • plus three unreleased tracks (1993).

Subtly remastered by Tuomas Virtanen from the original recordings. Housed in a deluxe gatefold jacket with LP2 Side D silk-screened, and enriched by a 20-page booklet featuring rare photos, original fanzine excerpts, tape scans and an extensive feature/interview by Olivier “Zoltar” Badin. Cover artwork and silkscreened art on side-D by acclaimed Finnish wizard Toni Hietomaa.

ABSURDUS “The ending of the path 1993-1996” LPSplit LP(F.O.A.D. 428)

Formed in 1992 in Kirkkonummi, Finland ABSURDUS forged a distinctive sound that blended haunting melodies with blackened Death Metal intensity, standing somewhere between the darkness of Belial, the melancholic atmosphere of the earliest Amorphis and Paradise Lost, and the memorable riffing of Sentenced. Long before their acclaimed debut album “No Heaven In Sight”, the band left behind three outstanding demos that perfectly captured the evolution of the Finnish scene during its most creative years. For the first time ever, F.O.A.D. Records collects the complete demo era on vinyl.
“Under The Never Setting Sun” – Demo 1993
“Flames” – Demo 1994
“Demo(n) 3” – Demo 1996
Comes with a full-color 16-page booklet featuring extensive band liner notes, original tape scans,
rare photos and archival material documenting the complete early history of the band.
