Every aspect of this release has been handled with obsessive attention to detail, in order to give this timeless masterpiece the treatment it truly deserves. We worked hand in hand on it with our dear friend Gabba, who followed every step of the process with unmatched dedication and passion. Tragically, he passed away just as the project was reaching completion. For that reason, this release is entirely dedicated to his memory. After a month entirely dedicated to what has become a true tradition in our catalog – Japanese hardcore, it was time to remind ourselves that this year marks the 40th anniversary of F.O.A.D. Records, and that called for a return to our roots. The label was founded at a time when metal and hardcore went hand in hand, and the first crossover and thrashcore fusions were taking shape.. a blend that, over time, has inspired countless bands and speed obsessed generations. What we’ve prepared for you this month is essentially a THRASH month, but we’re talking about thrash in the F.O.A.D. mentality – that is, rooted in that hellish metal punk cauldron of the 1980s. In fact, all 5x releases this month date back to that golden era.

From Brazil, we have the two debut albums (1986-1988) by the legends DORSAL ATLANTICA, here in the most deluxe and meticulously crafted reissues you’ve ever seen… then, moving to Italy – specifically Sicily – we have the insane collection of demos/early works by SCHIZO, a second pressing with updated graphics, and.. still “partially” in Italy, a phenomenal band that moved to the UK in the ’80s to give birth to a psychotic and highly original thrash blend, LORD CRUCIFIER, and to top it all off, we have a new edition of the Hungarian horde FANTOM, remastered from a recently found new master – the best sounding ever, featuring unreleased bonus rehearsal tracks (1987) and a meticulous mastering by the wizard Patrick Engel that makes it sound years better than any version you’ve heard before. Another fantastic month of furious Japanese hardcore on F.O.A.D. Records is in the books!  It had been a while since our last batch entirely focused on this genre, and we were pleased to see the enthusiastic reaction from so many of you—thanks for your support and the numerous orders.  Straight to the point:  GUDON “オマエノコトナドシラン – Discography 1986-1990” gatefold 2xLP, BRING FORTH / M.F.C. Split LP, HYENA “Shallow cunning – demos 1989-1990” LP, GAKI / NAKED CHARGE “1995-1998” LP, and EIEFITS “Thrive” LP are all out today on F.O.A.D. Records.  GUDON is completely sold out in pre-orders (both diehard splatter and black), and even the diehard version of the BRING FORTH / M.F.C. Split LP is all gone, we only have a few black copies left.  Act fast if you want to snag what’s left of HYENA, GAKI / NAKED CHARGE, and EIEFITS because there aren’t many left.

A LOST&FOUND MASTERPIECE OF HIROSHIMA CITY HARDCORE!! Originally released by Bloodsucker Records on a very hard-to-find cassette in 1995, this mysterious split is another hidden treasure of intense Japanese hardcore.  Both bands capture the true spirit of HCxHC, fast, furious and uncompromising, exploding in all its sheer power. Here’s the official reissue, captured from the master reels and with much better sound than the cassette tape that circulated at the time. Includes two inserts and an extensive 16 page booklet with photos, flyers, lyrics and scans of the original tapes. Recommended if you also like Gudon, Nightmare, Warhead and Death Side!!

HYENA “Shallow cunning – demos 1989-1990” LP  (F.O.A.D. 401)

Another hidden gem in the infinite galaxy of Hokkaido’s underground scene. Hailing from Sapporo City, HYENA delivered a perfect mix of metal and hardcore in true Japanese style (think Gastunk, Zouo, Ghoul, Poison, G.I.S.M.). This LP collects their two rare demotapes (1989-1990) prior to their full-length album “Kotetsu no inkaku”. Expect a firestorm of granite riffs, fiery solos and caustic vocals that blend into a thunderous roar of fury and violence! Includes booklet with rare photos, flyers and scans of the original tapes. GAKI / NAKED CHARGE LP  (F.O.A.D. 390)

Complete discography by Tottori City’s raging hardcore units GAKI and NAKED CHARGE… originally formed in 1994 as GAKI, the band started their thrashing aggression recording 3 songs (as GAKI) on the “Tottori City Hardcore” split 7″ with GAIZI, released in 1995 by the legendary, long running Japanese label MCR Company. They quickly changed their name to NAKED CHARGE and recorded a demotape and a split 7″ with VIOLENT CHARGE, their recording and live activity lasted from 1995 to 1998.  Sourced from the band’s masters for the most crushing sonic impact. One sided LP with silk screened art on B-side, OBI strip and 16 page booklet with rare photos, flyers and scans of the original releases.
