Another fantastic month of furious Japanese hardcore on F.O.A.D. Records is in the books!  It had been a while since our last batch entirely focused on this genre, and we were pleased to see the enthusiastic reaction from so many of you—thanks for your support and the numerous orders.  Straight to the point:  GUDON “オマエノコトナドシラン – Discography 1986-1990” gatefold 2xLP, BRING FORTH / M.F.C. Split LP, HYENA “Shallow cunning – demos 1989-1990” LP, GAKI / NAKED CHARGE “1995-1998” LP, and EIEFITS “Thrive” LP are all out today on F.O.A.D. Records.  GUDON is completely sold out in pre-orders (both diehard splatter and black), and even the diehard version of the BRING FORTH / M.F.C. Split LP is all gone, we only have a few black copies left.  Act fast if you want to snag what’s left of HYENA, GAKI / NAKED CHARGE, and EIEFITS because there aren’t many left.

As usual, all pre-orders have been shipped, and the many distributors who stock our releases in quantity are awaiting their shipments, so if you’re used to buying from your trusted local dealer, know that they’ll be receiving the ordered copies shortly.  Next month we’re shifting to a completely different territory, moving on to international thrash/black/death metal with 5 releases that will definitely blow your minds… keep an eye on us!

BRING FORTH / M.F.C. “Power of break through the barricades” Split LP (F.O.A.D. 387)

A LOST&FOUND MASTERPIECE OF HIROSHIMA CITY HARDCORE!! Originally released by Bloodsucker Records on a very hard-to-find cassette in 1995, this mysterious split is another hidden treasure of intense Japanese hardcore.  Both bands capture the true spirit of HCxHC, fast, furious and uncompromising, exploding in all its sheer power. Here’s the official reissue, captured from the master reels and with much better sound than the cassette tape that circulated at the time. Includes two inserts and an extensive 16 page booklet with photos, flyers, lyrics and scans of the original tapes. Recommended if you also like Gudon, Nightmare, Warhead and Death Side!!

HYENA “Shallow cunning – demos 1989-1990” LP  (F.O.A.D. 401)

Another hidden gem in the infinite galaxy of Hokkaido’s underground scene. Hailing from Sapporo City, HYENA delivered a perfect mix of metal and hardcore in true Japanese style (think Gastunk, Zouo, Ghoul, Poison, G.I.S.M.). This LP collects their two rare demotapes (1989-1990) prior to their full-length album “Kotetsu no inkaku”. Expect a firestorm of granite riffs, fiery solos and caustic vocals that blend into a thunderous roar of fury and violence! Includes booklet with rare photos, flyers and scans of the original tapes. Highly recommended if you like the F.O.A.D. section based on obscure Japanese metal/punk, which has brought back to light hidden treasures such as Q.O.P., PLAZMA-X, VIETNAM, AIRRAID, etc…

GAKI / NAKED CHARGE LP  (F.O.A.D. 390)

Complete discography by Tottori City’s raging hardcore units GAKI and NAKED CHARGE… originally formed in 1994 as GAKI, the band started their thrashing aggression recording 3 songs (as GAKI) on the “Tottori City Hardcore” split 7″ with GAIZI, released in 1995 by the legendary, long running Japanese label MCR Company. They quickly changed their name to NAKED CHARGE and recorded a demotape and a split 7″ with VIOLENT CHARGE, their recording and live activity lasted from 1995 to 1998.  Sourced from the band’s masters for the most crushing sonic impact. One sided LP with silk screened art on B-side, OBI strip and 16 page booklet with rare photos, flyers and scans of the original releases.

EIEFITS “Thrive” LP (F.O.A.D. 398)

New full-length album from these Tokyo veterans! 15 SONGS of energetic and intense punk rock often speeding up into hardcore territory, recalling Japanese milestones from the 80s such as GAS and The COMES! EIEFITS consists of an all-star lineup that includes Minoru from LIP CREAM on bass and present/past members of EVANCE, The SLOWMOTIONS, EXTINCT GOVERNMENT, and more! Prepare for a sharp punk attack of piercing female vocals over sturdy riff laden momentum built by pounding drums, thunderous bass and tough guitar riffs.  Includes foldout 11″x11″ insert with photos and lyrics.

Here we are at our regular appointment with one of the thematic sections we like best at F.O.A.D. Records, from a country we worship and with which we have forged a strong collaborative bond that has lasted for years: JAPAN. By now, saying “a month of Japanese hardcore or metal on F.O.A.D.” is truly synonymous with tradition, and it ignites the fire of passion in many, ourselves at the top!  We have now lost count of the number of F.O.A.D. releases taken from the underground scene of this inexhaustible furnace of sonic wonders, perhaps even more than 100… And we’re here to add 5 more to the list!  Welcome to another F.O.A.D.  month dedicated entirely to hardcore punk from the Land of the Rising Sun.

The highlight is definitely the massive anthology collection by Hiroshima’s GUDON, featuring all their recordings (including material never before released on vinyl) from 1986 to 1990, the period with Happy on vocals.  Next up, also from Hiroshima, is the first-ever vinyl reissue of the extremely rare split tape between BRING FORTH and M.F.C., a true hidden gem of furious, fast HC, in the pure Japanese Tiger’s Den style. On the same wavelength of rage and speed you get the discography of GAKI & NAKED CHARGE from Tottori City. Flying further north, we head to cold Hokkaido for some total Metal/Punk obscurity for fans of Ghoul, MOBS, Gastunk, and G.I.S.M… the 1989-1990 demo collection from Sapporo’s HYENA. And last but not least, an all-star lineup band from Tokyo, EIEFITS, with their new album “Thrive”. Female-fronted energetic punk with a HC base, and Minoru of Lipcream fame on bass!
